Pierrepont Success Stories:

  • Census 2020

For Census 2020, Robert Green led a team of over 30 consultants and agencies to develop one of the largest public mobilization campaigns in U.S. history, the integrated communications campaign for Census. This involved creating a comprehensive research-based strategy to enable online participation, the first time online responses were permitted for the Census. Beyond that, we improved mail-in responses via proprietary rapid visual testing technique that determined optimal messaging and visual design synergies, followed by A/B testing that further validated these findings. Ultimately it led to a 5.1% increase in direct mail response rates, saving tens of millions of dollars annually in taxpayer costs.

  • California Voters

Pierrepont conducted a predictive analytics segmentation of 22 million California voters for an ad hoc association of quick service restaurants in 2024. The predictive analytics modeling combined survey, voter, Census, and commercial data. Working with data scientists, Pierrepont translated these insights into actionable voter segments for digital and direct mail vendors, enabling precise targeting via channels like SMS, email, phone, and mail. This approach vastly increased cost efficiency, helping the quick service restaurants spend $4 million across over 30 races with an 85% win rate.

  • COVID-19

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Pierrepont examined pandemic-driven social safety net and unemployment concerns on behalf of the Rockefeller Foundation and Bipartisan Policy Center (BPC) and focused on its greater impact within marginalized groups. Our findings contributed to policy debates on social safety reforms. To enable dissemination by the Rockefeller Foundation and BPC, we created user-friendly data visuals for journalists and key stakeholders and conducted webinars on the subject.

  • Supreme Court

Robert Green is a recognized authority on public opinion toward the U.S. Supreme Court (SCOTUS). He has been featured on C-SPAN and cited by major publications such as The Wall Street Journal, the New York Post, and The Hill. C-SPAN has long advocated for greater Supreme Court transparency by allowing courtroom cameras. While this has not yet happened, C-SPAN has been successful in ensuring real-time audio broadcasts of oral arguments. Our most recent study for C-SPAN demonstrated that Americans hearing the oral arguments through these audio broadcasts, particularly via social media among Americans 35 or younger, has improved SCOTUS favorability.

  • Swipe Fees

Robert Green led messaging and communications for the reform of debit card “swipe” fees, representing major retail, small business, and consumer groups. This initiative (the Durbin Amendment) saved businesses and consumers $15–$20 billion annually by reducing hidden transaction fees from large banks and credit card companies. His efforts helped secure bipartisan Congressional support and were recognized by Politico and Roll Call as the year’s top lobbying victory.
